Greenbelt 2006

Redemptive Songs

Featuring Daniel Bedingfield, T-Bone Burnett, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Rudo Kwaramba, Christopher Booker, Maria McKee, Bill Druommon, Jim Wallis and many more . . . Join 20,000 people - young and not so young, those with faith and those with none, lovers of the arts, dreamers and doers, good life and good food aficionados - in the life-affirmiong, world-changing kaleidoscope of humanity, colour, carnival and campaigning that is Greenbelt.

Greenbelt sends a shiver down my spine with anticipation! I love it with a passion. There are so many opportunities to share and receive for all age groups. It challenges, reassures, heals and answers. There is so much diversity that I could not single out my favourite.

Great speakers like Dave Andrews and Mike Yaconnelli hit you right in the stomach and challenge the whole of your belief, making you feel that you can do something to make a difference.

Different forms of worship are available at various times of day, Wild Goose being very peaceful and reflective. So much so that some of our group fell asleep during it! Well it was nearly midnight.

The Sunday morning service provides the chance for the whole Greenbelt family to worship together - all 15000 of us!! It was based around Christian Aid's trade justice campaign, a theme for the whole weekend culminating in a march for trade justice on Monday afternoon, which stood Greenbelt still.

Drama and comedy also provide a reprieve from the more intense seminars. Some having us in tears of laughter whilst others having us a tears of empathy. New experiences to be had in late night comedy by laughing yourself to sleep!! (you know now who you are!!!)

Great music adds to the ambience of the festival by either thumping out heavy bass or filling the air with gentle orchestral melodies. All evenings have main stage where various different Christian bands play to a packed stadium!

As for children, they have their very own Greenbelt within Greenbelt!! An excellent programme is put together specifically for those 11 and under in their own special area. For youth, Humanic offers a different outlook on faith!

Well I could go on but I hope I've convinced you how great it is! We have some fab photos should you wish to see them and if you would like to join us next year we would be delighted to have you!
