House Groups

Taken at a house group meeting

Bethesda has several house groups that meet regularly for bible-study, discussion and prayer

The All Saints House House Group
(contact Bernard Stradling 516167)
The Benhall House Group (contact Eric Harding 517607)
The Everest Road House Group (contact Jose Putnam 524470)
The Leckhampton Road House Group
(contact Gill Barrett 524889)

All Saints House Group

The group was established over ten years ago and met regularly at the house of Chris Lammiman, the leader, in All Saints Road, hence the name. It now meets in different members homes on a rota arranged by the group administrator, Bernard Stradling. At present there are fourteen members. The group was originally set up to discuss challenging and controversial issues which confront Christians and it continues to follow this pattern. The many topics discussed include : the Christian and politics, homosexuality, the Church's attitude towards women, genetic engineering, "Faith in the Fire", prayer, ecology and the "green" church, Islam, liberal theology. Meetings commence at 8pm with a sharing of concerns followed by a period of silence. Over an hour is spent in discussion and then there is an opportunity for informal chatter over a cup of tea or coffee with the final curfew soon after 10pm.

Anybody who would like to join should get in touch with Bernard Stradling (Tel 01242 516167)

The Benhall House Group

We usually meet alternate weeks as given in the Notices.

Over the years we have followed several formats. We have used books, tapes and videos which deal with a subject, or a part of the Bible. Sometimes one person will lead a series of meetings, on other occasions different people will lead successive meetings and we occasionally have guest speakers. We keep a time for prayer after the discussion and before the refreshments. We do not expect that everyone should speak, or lead, or pray aloud, but most of us do so at one time or another. There are twelve of us in the group at present, but not everyone can attend every meeting, so we vary in number each time.

If you would like to join us, just come along; you will be most welcome please contact Eric Harding (Tel 01242 517607)
