Church Life "The University of Gloucestershire's Christian Union is one of the largest and most active societies affiliated with the Student Union. It aims to be a support for Christian students in the University, a welcoming place for International students and those who are lonely, and a safe environment for anybody who wishes to explore more of what it means to follow Jesus. It is overseen by an elected committee of 8 students, and has links with the chaplaincy and local churches. "We organise a semester long program which consists of regular meetings on Tuesday nights (7.30 at The Chapel on Francis Close Hall campus). The CU is not exclusive & anybody is welcome to come to the meetings, whatever their faith and whatever their previous experience of Christianity & there is no pressure to take part. These meetings are fairly informal, and usually consist of prayer and worship, and talks given by visiting speakers. Members of the CU are from all different kinds of backgrounds and denominations. "We have organised many successful events in the SU bars, which are always packed out. These have included pub quiz's, open mic and live music nights. Last year also saw a successful introduction to Jesus in the 6 week 'Life Course' at the FCH refectory. This coming semester will kick off with events throughout Freshers week, and will be followed up with a House Party weekend away and our Mission week in October, so look out for events and opportunities to talk to us and get involved."
